Strategic Planning at Alberici Constructors: A 20 Year Case Study

This program will be a case study of strategic planning at Alberici Constructors over the past 20 years. In the mid-90s, Alberici was a $300 million industrial construction firm with a goal of becoming $1.0 billion in revenue, changing its culture and adopting a market oriented focus. A systematic strategic planning process helped Alberici achieve these three goals. As Alberici achieved its goals and changed leadership, the strategic planning approach also appropriately shifted. Alberici's ongoing experience with this second model of strategic planning will be described as part of the case study.

Overcoming the Skilled Labor Challenge

The old adage of “good help is hard to find” is quickly becoming extremely relevant in many industries. So, how did we get here? The great recession forced many skilled workers to either change career paths or retire. At roughly the same time, the number of skilled labor training programs and apprenticeships began to diminish and that trend continues. This had left many companies in the manufacturing and construction industries struggling to find solid talent. During this interactive Focused Breakfast session we will have business owners and resource experts share what they are doing to win the war for talent, give advice on how you can do the same, and answer your questions.

Attracting and Retaining Talent through an Engaged Workforce

From the Harvard Business Review to internet HR chat rooms, professionals agree that engaged employees give more discretionary effort to your organization and tend to stay with your company longer.  They exceed goals, enjoy challenges and contribute more to your bottom line.   The problem?  Those same dream employees tend to get the least amount of focus and attention from management, in part because they’re doing what they need to do and don’t require immediate attention. In this session we will discuss best practices for improving employee engagement across a generationally diverse culture and building a more strategic and energized workforce to drive revenue and build your company.
