The Presidents' Forum Katie Tyler
Speaker Biography: After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in 1974, Katie worked in a variety of companies, including an architectural firm—where she was involved in retail design and construction. In 1983, Katie founded Inside Moves, which later evolved into Tyler 2 Construction. Katie’s leadership skills and ability to motivate associates have resulted in numerous local, regional and national awards (see below). One of Katie’s passions is helping to raise and train guide dog puppies who will service the blind at the end of their training. It was this passion that inspired Tyler 2’s new corporate logo, which debuted in 2003. Through Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. Katie spends 12-16 intensive months providing socialization and basic training lessons to each new dog under their care. Upon returning to Southeastern, the dog then enters a rigorous training program. Professional instructors and future guide dogs train together for 4 to 6 months. During this time, the dogs learn over 40 commands, including intelligent disobedience. The dog is carefully matched with a sight impaired adult to serve as their guide to mobility. Achievements
